This is definitely a little pricier than some other World Showcase restaurants, but you can do what we did, and make a tapas style meal of appetizers, and leave stuffed. Our table ordered a variety of dishes, including the mango guacamole (good), the empanadas (very good), the queso (insanely good), and the corn soup (best at table). La Hacienda has a great drink menu, and some of the same drinks as La Cava Del Tequila, including the famous Avocado Margarita (which is the only tequila based drink in the world that I like).
Huge windows offer views of World Showcase Lagoon, and if you’re there late at night – Illuminations. The inside of La Hacienda is BEAUTIFUL – it has a dark interior, and is lit by various hanging lamps, that throw different colored light on the walls. All of the restaurants are tied to the San Angel Inn inside the pyramid. I was open to the idea that it would be good, but I wasn’t going to bet money on it. La Hacienda is one of the group of restaurants found in the Mexico Pavilion. There are huge windows providing a great view of the World Showcase Lagoon and Illuminations, but tables next to those windows provide the best viewing. I recommend making a reservation for between 90 and 60 minutes before the start of Illuminations. I approached Epcot’s La Hacienda De San Angel the same way I approach all Mexican restaurants outside of Texas – with tepid reservation. The new La Hacienda de San Angel restaurant is a great place to watch Illuminations. But mainly, it means, that I KNOW good Mexican food. It means that I’m used to being able to see the whole sky, and that I don’t feel the need to justify why we’re the best state in the union. It means that I think that all tacos should come from a gas station, that BBQ doesn’t exist in other states, and that it’s a cold front anytime it dips under 85 degrees. It means anytime someone mentions my state in an assembly, I break into a rousing rendition of ‘The Stars at Night’. I think we would have had more fun at the other Mexico full-service restaurant.I’m from Texas – which means a lot of things. So I urge anyone going for a honeymoon to ask for a window seat or AT LEAST a seat in the open room. The food was not good enough to make up for all of that ^^^. We also waited about 30 minutes to just get drinks, our waiter must have forgotten about us, which wouldn’t have been hard considering it’s a forgotten space in the restaurant by the cleaning crew, too, apparently. I have to note that we went for our honeymoon last April, and we noted in our reservation that it was our honeymoon, and it was brought up by the host when we checked in for our table as well… but they seated us in the darkest, dankest corner of the restaurant (there were either boogers or food splattered on the wall), next to a group of LITERALLY 8 toddlers (I love children, but do you really think our honeymoon should be spent yelling over our table at each other because we can’t hear over the chaos?) and zero view of the window. Will you be trying La Hacienda for dinner during your next trip to Walt Disney World? Leave a comment and let us know what you think! A cut above your normal Mexican-Restaurant-in-America experience, coupled with that gorgeous view, means that I’ll certainly be back for more. If you haven’t had a chance to check out La Hacienda, give it a try.
One thing to note if you’re planning to make an Advance Dining Reservation here - they do not accept Tables in Wonderland, which is unfortunate. Our service was good, and our food was, well, great! From beginning to end, there were dishes that caused us to rave! And for me, that uniformly positive experience was something to be truly excited about. But hands down, this was the best visit to date. I’ve eaten at La Hacienda a few times, and I’ve offered a review of my experience twice before.
